What is social study?
Social studies is an intresting subject that combines history, geography, economics, gorvernment, and policy.
Which to help students understand the society and what happened in the past.
The main goal is to develop informed, responsible, and engaged students contribute to the communities.
What are the students learning?
History explores past societies, analyzes the connection between past and recent events, famous paople who made big changes in the past,big events like wars, and how the history affects us now.
Example for the World War 1, The Great Depression,and Bloody Sunday.

Geography studies the earth, its physical features, and the map.
Example for learn and remember the map and identify North, East,South,West.

Policy and government that teaches about political history, government structures, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens in society.
Example for some character who play important role in the hisory like Mackenzie King, Robert Borden, and Herbert Hoover.
​
Economics focuses on how societies produce, distribute, and consume goods and services, including concepts like trade and financial literacy.
Exmple for transportg goods and bank.
Major topics for grade 10 social study
For grade 10 this subject are mainly Canadian focus.The first chapter is Canada before and during World War 1.This chapter talks about all the war that included Canada and how Canada get rid of Britian control,show our power then became an individual county to the world.For instance Battle of Vimy Ridge, the Second Battle of Ypres, and the Battle of Passchendaele are mentioned.
The 2nd chapter is Canada after the war.The soldiers and army went back to the homefrount but they were disappointed because the people that didnt went to the war became employers and get rich, the gorvernment dosent really care about the wounded soldiers and there are no jobs.Therefore after war the workers strke started.Overall this chapter mainly talk about the society after the war and the strikes.
The 3rd chapter is talking about the Roaring 20s. In 1920s, the economy boost fastly. Techology are more wide used like radio and automobile. There are also more jobs for women, hey can finally dress more freely and fashion.
The 4th chapter is the Great Deppresion. Canada economics drpped in the 1929. The economy drops 25% within 2 days and keep on droping.Tje Great Depression started, people went bankrupt, loosing jobs, poverty, no food, homeless, and lose hope.And fr the workers who still have a jobs, hey work longer hours and lower wages.
